Bizzare Rugs and Crazy Carpets
- Oriental Rug Mouse Pads.
What an original idea. These sure beat a faded yellow rubber mat with tweety bird printed on it. Add some class to your computer. Ha! Source

- Hitler Rug
Ok, this one is a little greusome looking, but I've got to admit that there is a certain appeal to being able to wipe your feet off on Hitler's face. I mean, the guy deserves it. Source
- T-Shirt Rug
For those who are going green lately, here's a stylish recycled rug made out of t-shirts. The only problem I can think of is that this thing would be a stain magnet. Source
- Real Life Flying Carpet (version 1)
So its not really a flying carpet...but it definitely gives you the flying feeling. This amazing rug was woven with a print of arial photographs. Think google maps on the floor. I thought this was a really ingenious idea for installation at an airport. Source

- Carpet Burns
Here's another great carpet innovation for those concerned about the environment. Its an innovative solution to recycling old carpets that take up a large amount of space at the landfill. With this new technology, carpets are melted into sturdy, solid, moldable containers that keep their pattern and look intact. What a cool idea. Source
- Big Brother Carpet
Holy crap...ok this one is a little scary. With this stealth carpet, you never know what information might be being recorded. This amazing carpet can autodiscriminate by determining age, sex, weight and more. The real application of this technology would most likely be to track demographics information, but its pretty scary anyway. Source
- Crazy Terrorist Rugs
These carpets are from the soviet era, but they'd probably make a popular comeback in the homes of some crazy terrorists. Who the hell has an interest in carpet weaving AND guns? Source

- Cable-Path Carpet
This is a good concept in theory, but I'm not sure I'd ever want something like this in my home. This carpet has built in paths for all of the cables that would normally run under the rug. The only problem I can see is maybe the cables coming up easily, or not having the need for all those cable paths. Pretty cool look if you could pull it off, though. Source

- Nerd Carpet (ASCII Carpet)
This is an interesting idea. You can get your own carpet with randomly scraped material in ASCII, directly from the web. Just visit this company's website and you'll have the option to purchase your own completely unique piece of ASCII art. Cool. Source
- First Ever Soy Carpet
Here's another innovation for all you greenies out there. This carpet is apparently the first ever to be constructed from soy. Apparently the texture can be described as a combination of cashmere, velvet and alpaca I knew soy could be used to make everything from tofu to fake chicken nuggets....but a rug? Who knew?
- Real Life Flying Carpet (Version 2)
I think this may be as close as we will get (or want to get) to inventing a real life flying carpet....you've gotta see this.
Extras:
- Ugly Casino Carpets
These are just a sample of some of the rugs at casionos around the country/world. I wonder if these patterns entice people to press the slots...maybe they're just busy and colorful to keep people up. I'm sure someone somewhere has studies this.

- Rugs give you super powers
Apparently, with the right carpet, wearing the right clothing, it is possible to build up a huge static electric charge. In 2005, a man in the Victorian city of Warnambool left a trail of scorch marks and molten plastic behind him. Burns the size of 10-cent pieces were found around the man who had apparently built up to 30,000 volts of elctricity simply walking around the city. Check This out for more information - Carpet Skates
Think building up dangerious voltages are the only fun thing you can do running around on rugs? Think again. Some crazy moving company came up with some "carpet skates" that let you slide around on rugs as easily as you might on ice. Cool idea for kids. Source
